Hilda Flores April 1, 1956 – July 20, 2023 In Loving Memory of Hilda Flores Rio Hondo, Texas Hilda Flores, a beloved sister, aunt, teacher, and friend, peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 20th at the age of 67, surrounded by her loving family, in McAllen, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Alicia Flores. Hilda Flores is survived by her two sisters, Raquel and Elizabeth; three nieces, and eight nephews. Born on April 1, 1956, in Rio Hondo, Texas, Hilda was a woman of remarkable humility and boundless joy. From an early age, she displayed a genuine and unassuming nature, always putting others before herself. Her humility endeared her to everyone she met, and she touched countless lives with her selfless acts of kindness. Growing up in a loving and supportive family, Hilda was instilled with values of hard work and perseverance. Becoming the first in her family to attend college, she seized the opportunity to attend Texas Woman's University, where passion for teaching flourished, and she earned a Masters in Education. This achievement marked the beginning of a remarkable career that would impact the lives of countless students. Her loving bond with her two sisters, Raquel and Elizabeth, was a source of strength and happiness throughout her life. Together, they formed an inseparable trio, supporting each other through life's ups and downs and creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever. Hilda lived life with an infectious joy that radiated from her smile and laughter. She found happiness in the simplest of things, whether it was caring for her beloved doggies, working in the garden, or creating beautiful crochet pieces. Her zest for life was truly contagious, and she taught those around her the value of finding joy in everyday moments. Over the years, she nurtured many young minds, leaving a lasting impact that extended beyond the confines of the classroom. Her ability to connect with her students on a personal level and her genuine interest in their well-being fostered a sense of trust and respect. Her boundless imagination was a beacon of inspiration to those around her. With a creative mind that knew no limits, she would dream up stories that transported both children and adults to enchanting realms. Her storytelling sessions were a cherished tradition, filled with laughter, awe, and a sense of wonder. Above all, Hilda's greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She held a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews. Hilda was not only a devoted aunt but a second mother to David, Adrian, Audrey, and Andrew. With unwavering patience and a heart full of unconditional love, she embraced her role as a guiding figure in their lives. She showered them with affection and understanding, offering a listening ear and a comforting embrace whenever they needed it. Her presence was a source of stability and reassurance, and she played a pivotal role in shaping their characters and nurturing their growth. She was more than just an aunt; she was a pillar of support and an endless source of love that they will carry in their hearts forever. Please join us for a Celebration of Life, Saturday, August 5, 2023, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Valley Nature Center, 301 S Border Ave, Weslaco, Texas. Services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes Texas.
