Pedro G. Garcia

Pedro G. Garcia 95, of Harlingen entered into rest May 5, 2021. He was born in Hebronville, TX April 17, 1926 to Sabas Garcia and Maria del Refugio. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita D. Garcia; brothers, Israel Garcia and Jose Guadalupe Garcia; sisters, Maria Sabitas Davila, Beatrice Cantu and Lydia Lozano. He married Juanita D. Garcia, June 17, 1956 and they made their home in Harlingen. They were married for 53 years until her passing. Pedro proudly served in the US Army during WWII. He received The Bronze Star as well as other service medals. Pedro's war story can be found in the book titled, "Our Heros", RGV VETERANS. He taught at Lamar Elementary School, worked for Southwestern Drug Corp. and at Valley Baptist Hospital in the pharmacy dept. where he retired after 40 years. Pedro was an artist and member of the D'Arte Art Center. He was also a member of the RGV Hispanic Genealogical Society where he was well known for his 50 years of research of his family tree which he presented at the Harlingen Heritage Museum. He was very proud of his display, many requests were asked to present his display throughout the Valley. He served as a lector at both Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and Immaculate Heart of Mary where he was an lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughter, Norma Ann Camp, husband, Howard; son, Louis Jaime Garcia, wife, Lisa; grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Camp, Eric Alexander Camp, Kristin Nicole Camp and SCOUT his great-grandpuppy and companion. He is also survived by his brothers, Santana Garcia of Corpus Christi, Armando R. Garcia (Elia), and sister Maria J. Garcia of McAllen; brother in law, Tomas Diaz (Lucinda) of Katy, TX; sister in law, Harriet Diaz of Corpus Christi and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who loved him dearly. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 13, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM and a rosary will be at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, 2021 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church and burial will be held at 3:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Corpus Christi, TX officiated by his nephew Father Jose Salazar and military honors will be under the auspices of the Marine Corp. League. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: David Garcia, Eric Camp, Gabriel Garcia, Joe Lozano, Armando Garcia, Ted Quintanilla III, Diego R. Garcia, Spec. Noe A. Garcia and Israel Garcia. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.
