Angelica Lugo

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Angelica Lugo, a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on April 20 at the age of 96. Her life was a beautiful testament to strength, love, and unwavering spirit. A true matriarch, Angelica was known for her incredible talent in the kitchen. She poured her heart into every meal, believing that food was a powerful way to bring people together. She found joy in cooking for others and making them feel at home. Her hands were just as gifted with a needle and thread as they were with a spoon and skillet. She had a deep love for sewing and created countless quilts, clothes, and keepsakes--each stitch filled with love, care and intention. Angelica was a woman of deep faith. Her relationship with God guided her through life's challenges and triumphs. She found peace in prayer, strength in scripture, and purpose in living a life that reflected her beliefs. She also had a passion for politics. She followed current events closely. She never shied away from a thoughtful conversation about the world around her and wasn't afraid to voice her opinions. Above all, Angelica was a strong, independent woman. She met every obstacle with resilience and grace, inspiring all who knew her. Her determination, wisdom, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone she touched. She will be dearly missed but forever remembered for the love she gave, the meals she cooked, the lessons she taught, and the legacy she leaves behind. Angelica is survived by her children, Awilda Vera (Antonio), Norma Gulyas (Stephen), Miriam Torres (Claudio), Louis Rivera, Ana Munoz, and Edwin Lugo (Cindy); her 9 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great-grandchildren, and friends who loved her dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, Adolfo Lugo Roman, her children, Nancy Rivera and Adolfo Lugo, Jr. and her grandson, Eric Lugo. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 28, 2025 from 4 to 7PM. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, April 29, 2025 Wake services at 10AM with Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment to follow at Spring Lake Cemetery, Aurora, IL. Funeral Services entrusted to James Paynes Funeral Service.
