Carlos Efrain Buenfil

Efrain Buenfil, affectionately known as "Los" or "Bro," passed away on June 4, 2025, in Weslaco, Texas, at the age of 35. Born in Pontiac, Michigan, on April 5, 1990, Carlos left an indelible mark on the lives of those he loved, blessing them daily with his compassion, playfulness, and unwavering faith. He pursued higher education, earning a bachelor’s degree in marketing and a minor in English from the University of Texas Pan American. Carlos also proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy, embodying dedication and courage throughout his time in service. Beyond these accomplishments, what many admired most about Carlos was the depth of his heart beneath a seemingly tough exterior. Those privileged to truly know him experienced his playful, silly side—a joy reserved only for those closest to him. Carlos had an exceptional talent for making others feel special, carefully learning the little details of what brought joy to each loved one's life. His love for his parents, Mia and Miguel Zuniga; siblings Nichole Aguilera and George Buenfil and Christopher Zuniga; his grandmother, Sue Ruelas; and his grandfather, Juan Ruelas, reflected the breadth of Carlos' affection and kindness. Carlos is survived by his loving family and his wife, Zabrina Buenfil and his 5 Children Leo Rodriguez, Ebony Rodriguez, Diego Rodriguez, Jayden Landeros, and Riot Buenfil. Above all else, Carlos treasured his relationship with God, consistently expressing gratitude and acknowledging the grace bestowed upon him. His faith guided and transformed him; he once was lost, but through faith, he became found. In his free time, Carlos passionately supported his favorite football team, the Detroit Lions. It was through sports that he found joy, camaraderie, and excitement, enthusiastically cheering them on season after season. Though he has left this earth, the legacy of his generous spirit and faith-inspired life endures in the hearts of those he touched. As Carlos himself wisely said, “Don’t let your yesterday’s faults dictate the outcome of today’s results.” These words continue to inspire strength and resilience in each of us as we cherish and remember his remarkable life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a chapel service at 7:00 p.m. In respect to Efrain's wishes this concludes all funeral services. Funeral services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes Texas.
