Danilo “Danny” Reyes Balcos, 79, entered into eternal rest on June 28, 2026, in Harlingen, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family. Danny was born with a brilliant mind and a servant's heart. Danny began his career as a civil engineer in the Philippines, where he dedicated himself to his profession with excellence and integrity. He later continued his engineering career in the Rio Grande Valley, working briefly as a structural engineer at Valley Baptist Medical Center before joining Rubiano and Associates, where he remained until his retirement. A man of deep and unwavering faith, Danny lived his life devoted to God, his family, and serving others. He was a proud Fourth Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus in Harlingen and exemplified the values of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism through his actions and the way he lived each day. Danny found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved playing Scrabble and solitaire, traveling with his family, and spending meaningful time with those he loved most. Gentle, kind, and soft-spoken, he possessed a quiet strength that left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Though a man of few words, his love was evident in his selfless actions, unwavering support, and steadfast devotion to his family. Above all, Danny was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his wife, children, and grandchildren with all his heart and always placed their needs before his own. A man of remarkable character, humility, and integrity, he led by example and served as an extraordinary role model. His wisdom, compassion, and unconditional love will continue to inspire his family for generations to come. Danny will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him, but his legacy of faith, love, and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Felicidad B. Balcos of Harlingen, Texas; his children, Danilo B. Balcos Jr. and his wife, Juni of Las Vegas, Nevada, Marie Carmel Balcos of Houston, Texas, and Chris Emmanuel Balcos of Harlingen, Texas; his cherished grandchildren, Caitlin Balcos and Luke Emmanuel Balcos; and his sister, Conchita Balcos of the Philippines. He was preceded in death by his parents, Feliciano Balcos and Gregoria Reyes Balcos; his brother, Feliciano Balcos, Jr.; and his sister, Leticia Manuel. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with the Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, Texas. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10:00 a.m., with Father Jesus G. Garza as celebrant. All services will conclude following the Mass. Arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas.
