Mrs. Elena Galvan Segura passed away May 2, 2023 in Corpus Christi, Texas at the age of 82. Mr. Lauriano "Don Lauro" Segura, her bereaved husband, along with his children Lauro Jr. (Leticia), Antonio (Secilia), the late Pedro (Katsumi), Javier (Maribel), Juan (Jackie) and Victor Segura together with their daughters María Elena Segura Clauss (Ken Monrad), Martha Segura Delgado (Alberto), Linda Segura Leal, María del Rosario Segura (Roy), Rosa Linda Segura Elizondo (José Miguel) share this news with profound sadness. Friends and acquaintances, please lift Elena in your prayers as she walks into Heaven with our almighty God. Join us for the viewing Monday, May 8, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home. The rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30 AM for a Mass of Christian burial at 10:00 AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery in La Feria, Texas. Elena lived a life surrounded by her children, grand and great-grandchildren, friends and family who loved and admired her for her strength and virtuous education. Elena dedicated her life to her children and, together with her husband, they built a large, beautiful family for 63 years. Elena’s face would particularly light up when she told stories about the laughter, joy and worries caused by the antics and pranks of the six sons and five daughters she raised. She loved her 11 children. In addition to her children, Elena loved taking care of her parakeets and pigeons she always had in the corridors around her house. She was filled with peace and harmony to be surrounded by tulip flowers and white gardenias in her garden. Right there, in those same corridors of the same house where she saw her eleven children grow up and countless grandchildren run around, she would enjoy a cigarette from time to time especially in those evenings when she sat down to chat with one or two of her sons who would partake with a cigarette with her and the conversations with her youngest daughter, her "Baby Rosie". Those were always quiet intimate moments full of love between mother and children surrounded by that unique South Texas breeze. Elena spent the last five years in Corpus Christi with her oldest daughter, Maria Clauss and Mr. Ken Monrad, who cared for her with love, devotion and caring patience day and night. Ken and Maria would sneak in fishing expeditions and other adventures for Elena’s comfort and happiness. Mom was loved and will be greatly missed. Su desconsolado esposo, el Sr. Lauriano “Don Lauro” Segura, junto a sus hijos Lauro Jr. (Leticia), Antonio (Secilia), el finado Pedro (Katsumi), Javier (Maribel), Juan (Jackie) y Víctor Segura unidos a sus hijas María Elena Segura Clauss, Martha Segura Delgado (Alberto), Linda Segura Leal (David), María del Rosario Segura (Roy), Rosa Linda Segura Elizondo (José Miguel) participan a los amigos y conocidos de este triste acontecimiento. Les rogamos que eleven a la Sra. Elena en sus oraciones en su camino al cielo junto a nuestro Dios todo poderoso. Acompáñenos al velorio el Lunes de 1:00 PM a 9:00 PM en la casa Funeraria Rudy Garza. Se rezará el rosario a las7:00 PM. La misa de cuerpo presente se llevará a cabo el Martes a las 10:00AM en la Iglesia Reyna de la Paz. Después de la misa, el cortejo fúnebre saldrá al jardín Restlawn Cemetery en La Feria, Texas. Doña Elena vivió una vida rodeada de sus hijos, nietos y personas que la querían, la amaban y la admiraban por su fortaleza y buena educación. Elena dedicó su vida a su familia, hijos, nietos, bisnietos y junto a su esposo desarrollaron un hogar juntos por 63 años. Doña Elena se entusiasmaba cuando contaba historias, especialmente las risas, alegrías y las preocupaciones que le causaban las travesuras de los seis hijos y las cinco hijas que crio junto a su esposo Lauro. Además de sus hijos, a Elena le encantaba cuidar de sus periquitos y las palomas que siempre tenía en los corredores alrededor de su casa. Igualmente, se llenaba de paz y armonía estar rodeada de flores de tulipanes y gardenias blancas en su jardín. Allí mismo, en esos mismos corredores de la misma casa dónde vio a sus once hijos crecer y un sinnúmero de nietos correr, años después disfrutaba de vez en cuando un cigarrillo especialmente en esos atardeceres y las noches cuando se sentaba a platicar con uno o dos de sus hijos que compartían un cigarro con ella y las pláticas con su hija la menor, su “Bebita Rosie”. Siempre eran momentos tranquilos íntimos llenos de amor entre madre e hijos rodeados de las brisas del Sur de Tejas. Durante sus últimos cinco años de vida terrenal, la Sra. Elena disfrutó esos mismos días y atardeceres junto a su hija mayor, María Elena Clauss y el señor Ken Monrad quienes la cuidaron con cariño, atención y paciencia día y noche ante la cercana Isla del Padre en Corpus Christi. Que Descanse en Paz en el reino del Señor.
