Felipe "Flipper" Quezada Jr.

Felipe "Flipper" Quezada Jr., 49, of Harlingen went home to be with the Lord April 1, 2024. He was born October 20, 1974 in Harlingen, Texas to Felipe Quezada and Josefina Montelongo. He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Emelitona Del Angel and paternal grandparents, Maria Delgadina Torres and Jose Concepcion Quezada. He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife, Lydia V. Quezada; his 2 daughters, Evelyn Evan Quezada and Felicia Ann Quezada; his parents, Felipe T. and Josefina Quezada; 2 sisters, Marta Alicia Quezada and Daisy Belinda (Manuel) Sandoval; his maternal grandfather, German Montelongo and his nieces and nephews, Josselyn Franco, Abby Franco, Manuel "Manny" Sandoval, Jr., Jasmine Sandoval, Javier Rene Vasquez, Ravynn and Tomas Luis Vasquez and Oliver and Sofia Vasquez. Felipe Jr. grew up in a humble and modest way. His father was the head groundskeeper for the Tony Butler Golf Course in Harlingen. Tony Butler himself was kind enough to spare a tiny house in the middle of the course, and his mother would raise them the best she knew how with his father providing as much as he could. There, with his mother and baby sister he would play endlessly on the golf course, surrounded by nature, and took in his passion for fishing and golf. He also learned to play baseball, like his father, and gained the agility and skill to being a competitive avid player. With that, Felipe Jr. found out that his juggernaut abilities made him a player to be reckoned with in Football, especially when watching his hometown Harlingen Cardinal Football players ripping up the fields. He grew up determined to play for the Harlingen Cardinals defensive line and that is exactly what he did with pride, ambition, and diligence. Playing alongside his best friends, he never grew separate from them. Felipe Jr. and his friends were an impenetrable unit as they enjoyed hanging out and getting into trouble at times, but his brothers never left his side. You would expect them at any party they could hear about and would turn into stories now told around family for a quick laugh. After his high school graduation, Felipe Jr. learned to be a tough and hard worker at every job he had experience at. Then Finally, he found his calling to Airborne Express, which later to become the Worldwide company- DHL Express in Harlingen Texas, where his career took off and his notoriety in his expertise did not go unnoticed. Throughout the years his humble demeaner, modest soul, and humility was gratified by many peers that he had touched. During the Covid outbreak, cancer was the second thought that anyone could go through. Unfortunately, Felipe Jr. was diagnosed with leukemia, a horrible disease that shocked his entire family and his life. Though there were some tough moments, Felipe Jr. was tougher. His wife and family never left his side and endlessly surrounded him with so much love and of course, food. “He was Superman, but leukemia was his kryptonite.” Yet he did not lose his battle, he fought till the very end. Felipe Jr. will always be the pillar to his family and friends. He stood his ground in being the light to everyone he met, and always gave his advice to anyone seeking it. He is an inspiration to everyone’s lives, and we will continue to honor his profound gratitude that he always gave us. He will always be a faithful husband, a loving father, a fishing buddy, and a helping stranger, and a true brother to us all. He will always be proud of his family, and we will always be proud of the life he built for us and himself. Visitation will begin Saturday at 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and a prayer service will begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 7, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Primera Iglesia Bautista in La Feria and interment will follow at Heavenly Grace Cemetery. He will be missed, but he will be never forgotten. His legacy is our foundation in life and will live in us for years to come. Thank you, Felipe, Junior, didids, Tio Nino, Felipon, Flipper, Mijo, for everything that you've accomplished and lived for. Fish on, and God bless us all with your spirit.
