Frances C. Rodriguez

Frances C. Rodriguez, 90, of Harlingen, Texas, entered into eternal rest on August 14, 2026, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Frances was born on September 22, 1935, in Harlingen, Texas, to Lino and Augustina Charles. She lived a full and beautiful life, one filled with family, faith, laughter, friendships, and countless memories that will be treasured by those who knew and loved her. To know Frances was to know someone who loved people. She was naturally social and happiest when she was surrounded by family and friends. She was generous with what she had, giving freely of her time, her love, and whatever she could do to help someone she cared about. She had a loving heart, a wonderful sense of humor, and a way of making people feel welcome. Her family knew they could always count on her. Frances was a woman of remarkable strength. She faced life with perseverance, determination, and an inner strength that carried her through both good times and difficult ones. She worked hard and remained committed to helping provide for the people she loved. Her family was one of her greatest sources of pride, and she spent her life making sure they knew how much they meant to her. She knew how to enjoy life, too. Francisca loved fishing, dancing, dining out, traveling, and shopping. She especially enjoyed clothes, shoes, and accessories, and always had an appreciation for looking her best. She loved playing Chalupa, especially when it meant spending time with family and enjoying a little friendly competition. Long before she became a mother and grandmother, Frances was an athletic young woman who proudly played baseball in high school. She carried that same determination and competitive spirit throughout her life. Frances had a curious mind and always liked to know what was happening in the world. She was always interested in what was happening in the world and enjoyed keeping up with current events. Her faith was also an important part of her life. She loved the Lord and found comfort in her faith. She enjoyed watching old westerns and faith-based movies, often settling in to enjoy a good story. There were also the simple things that brought Frances joy. She loved making homemade tortillas for her family, and she could never resist a good cookie or piece of sweet bread. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved Siamese cats, whom she affectionately called her “Ponchos,” and her little dog, Rocco. Above all, Frances loved her family. Her greatest legacy is not found in possessions or accomplishments, but in the love she gave, the sacrifices she made, the lessons she taught, and the memories she leaves behind. Her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings, relatives, and friends will carry pieces of her with them for the rest of their lives. Frances is survived by her seven children, Cirilo Rodriguez, Jr. (Janie), Letty Gonzales (Henry), Rolando Rodriguez (Elvia), Roberto Rodriguez, Lucy Cisneros (Hector), Suzie Rodriguez (Rene Rosenbaum), and Rodolfo Rodriguez (Laura). She leaves behind sixteen grandchildren: Frances Rodriguez, Jacqueline Perez, Longino Araujo, Henry Gonzales Jr., Steven Gonzales, Myka Rodriguez, Pilar Rodriguez, Isaiah Rodriguez (Annabelle), Joshua Vitela (Amy), Giovanni McCulloch, Nicole Ledesma (Miguel), Victoria Perrill, Alexander Perrill (Jacqueline), Brenda Rodriguez, Alissa Rodriguez, Rudy Rodriguez Jr., and Ryan Rodriguez; as well as 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her four sisters, Mary Morales (Blas†), Fela Rivas (Juan†), Mary Ester Rodriguez (Joe†), and Yolanda Gonzalez (Ramiro†). Frances was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cirilo Rodriguez; her infant son, Baldemar Rodriguez; six brothers; and three sisters. While her family mourns the loss of her presence, they can find comfort knowing that the love she gave them will never leave. Her laughter, her stories, her strength, her faith, and all the little things that made her Frances will live on in the hearts of the people who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished. Visitation will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, with a chapel service at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. for burial at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Joshua Vitela, Henry Gonzales Jr., Alexander Perrill, Isaiah Rodriguez, Rudy Rodriguez Jr., and Ryan Rodriguez. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas.
