Gloria Ramirez

HARLINGEN/FORT WORTH, TX - Gloria Ramirez, age 61, died peacefully on January 15, 2014, surrounded by family and friends at the Plaza Medical Center of Fort Worth after struggling with cirrhosis of the liver and an infection to the abdomen. She was born April 12, 1952 to Pedro Garza and Jovita Rubio at Valley Baptist Memorial Hospital in Harlingen, Texas. Gloria was a loving wife, supporting her husband throughout his career in the United States Navy. It was said that “When God made the mold for a military wife and mom; he made the mold in Gloria’s image.” She loved her children dearly and supported their every endeavor. She was a friend, mom and confidant to all, leaving behind an amazing legacy. Gloria touched all of those around her in a very profound way and she will be sorely missed. Gloria was the heart and soul of her family and will leave behind a part of herself in her husband of 38 years, Juan J. Ramirez. She will also forever live on in her son Juan J. Ramirez Jr, daughter Lori Ramirez and grandchildren Juan J. Ramirez III, Makayla Ramirez and Kadin Ramirez. She was preceded into Heaven by her oldest daughter Gloria Ramirez. In addition, Gloria is survived by her mom Jovita Rubio, brothers Saragosa Rubio, Jesse Garza and Pete Garza, and her sisters Delia Briones, Eleanor Hampton, Bertha Quiroga, Estela Silgero and Olga Ramos. Visitation will be held today, Saturday, January 18, 2014 between the hours of 5:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M., and will resume on Sunday, January 19, 2014 between the hours of 1:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M, with a recitation of the holy rosary scheduled for seven o’clock Sunday evening. Funeral services will take place on Mo nday, January 20, 2014, departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel at 9:15 A.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, Texas. Committal services will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations for Paige’s Place located in Port Mansfield, Texas.
