Guadalupe "Wally" Corpus

Guadalupe G. “Wally” Corpus, 81, passed away peacefully at his residence in Primera, Texas surrounded by family on October 2, 2025. Born in Los Fresnos, Texas, January 7, 1944. Corpus is preceded in death by his loving wife Olivia A. Corpus, son Alberto Corpus, parents Ignacio & Josefa G. Corpus and 3 siblings. Corpus is survived by his son Abel (Petra) Corpus, daughters, Adelita (Juan) Garcia and Angie (George) Rodriguez. Continuing his legacy are also his 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 9 siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and as well, his close friends. Being the oldest of the male siblings, he set the example of working at a young age, he would accompany his father to work farmlands, where he would provide help for his family in Rio Hondo Texas. As time passed, he found himself working for Cantwell Farm and soon thereafter, he met the love of his life, Olivia. They married on December 6, 1964. It was while working at Country Line Farm that his family began to flourish and by 1968, they had 3 children. It wasn’t long before he and his family relocated to Idaho and started working for Albert Johnson’s Farm. They remained in Idaho for 5 years. It was now the early 70s, when they decided to move back to Texas, and build a home in Primera, Texas. Another daughter was born in 76’ and their family was now complete. Corpus worked with Primera Police Department and closely with Alex Trejo. He, later, discovered a passion working in the construction industry. He had the privilege of working for J.W. “Bill” Barfield & Carl “Cap” Moore with Barfield Asphalt Contractors, Jimmy Closner & Sons Construction and G&T Paving, where he retired from in 2011. Throughout his years of working, he progressed and advanced in his skills to further his profession and provide for his family and, as such, was later promoted to foreman. He built strong relationships with his employers, city and state officials, taking pride in building highways, streets and parking lots. Employers became good friends, and he always spoke highly of Mr. Gonzalez of G&T Paving and his family. Our dad was a humble man, a firm disciplinarian, loving spouse, supportive father, caring brother and uncle, a loyal friend and a sweet grandfather. His grandchildren really softened up his heart. Everyone will remember all his stories, as he loved telling them. He also loved to inform everyone about the weather and about politics. He deeply enjoyed the company of family & friends, sharing laughter over BBQ’s and a Miller Lite Beer. His love for antique automobiles, music and dancing will be deeply cherished. Visitation will begin Monday, October 6, 2025 from 12:00 PM until 9:00 PM and a recitation of the holy rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 7, 2025 departing the Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Queen of Peace Catholic Church and burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery. Honored to serve as pallbearers are, Luis Corpus, Christopher Olivarez, Geronimo Cruz, Jr., Abel Gonzales III, Robert Gonzales and George Rodriguez and honorary pallbearers are, Ignacio "Jay" Corpus, Jr. and Ryan Michael Lockington. Our dad lived an extraordinary life, so we will celebrate his life, but he will be extremely missed. Knowing that he has now embarked on his eternal journey peacefully, as he wished, gives his family comfort, he is now rejoicing with the Lord.
