Irma R Castillo

Irma Rodriguez Castillo, a devoted mother, grandmother, and beloved widow of Cliff Castillo, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, at Sun Valley Nursing Home in Harlingen, Texas. She was 79 years old. Born on July 24, 1945, in Harlingen, Texas, Irma lived a life marked by strength, grace, and deep love for her family. Her legacy is one of resilience, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. Irma began her career in the restaurant industry as a waitress at the well-loved Sammy’s Restaurant, where her kind nature and welcoming smile brought joy to many. She later followed her passion for beauty and enrolled at Mr. Alfred’s Beauty School, becoming a licensed cosmetologist. She dedicated the rest of her career to helping others feel beautiful, confident, and cared for. Always stylish and full of life, Irma was known for her beautiful “yellow” (blonde) hair and dazzling jewelry. Her elegance and joyful spirit lit up every room, and her family will always remember the strength, wisdom, and unconditional love she gave so freely. She is survived by her five loving children: San Juanita Del Angel (Victor), Sonia Del Angel, Jose Del Angel, Robert G. Del Angel (Maribel Sanchez), and Carlos E. Del Angel (Letty Leal Del Angel). She also leaves behind nine cherished grandchildren: Joe Henry Canell (Rebecca), Ashley Montelongo (Rick), Alex Garduño (Desirae), Michael Canell, Carlos Del Angel Jr. (Daniela), Adrian Canell (Pearl), Briana Del Angel (Elijah), Erika Del Angel (Brandon), and Brandon Del Angel (Ashley). Irma is also survived by her loving sisters: Yolanda Ayala (Juan Ayala) and Librada “Lily” Solis (the late Ciro Solis), who shared in her life’s joys, sorrows, and memories over the years. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Cliff Castillo; her father, Jose Angel Rodriguez of Spain; her mother, Maria Reina De Leon; her brother, Jorge Esteban De Leon; and her sister-in-law, Graciela De Leon Torres. While our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing that she is now reunited with her beloved Cliff and the family members who went before her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and all who had the blessing of knowing her. Services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen, Texas.
