Jim Brydone

Jim Brydon of Harlingen, TX was called home by the Lord surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, January 14, 2023. He was born August 10, 1937 to Joseph and Ethel Brydone in Milverton Ontario, Canada. His parents have preceded him in death. Jim's family were dairy farmers and contributors of fresh milk to the Borden Milk Co. in Toronto. He then moved to Las Vegas where he learned to fly airplanes for a short time and traveled back to Vancouver, BC where he played his fiddle to raise enough money to move to Anchorage, Alaska in 1974. Jim worked in the Alaskan pipeline before he became a general contractor building houses and apartments. Then he established Pile Co. Inc. in Anchorage, AK in 1982 until he retired in 2019. Jim was a member of AmVETS, Moose Lodge, Eagles and lifetime member of the VFW in Anchorage, AK. Jim and his wife, Yolanda, moved permanently to Harlingen, TX in 2020. He played the fiddle for fun and enjoyment with locals at Paradise Park in Harlingen. He was a member of the Amigas Lions Club and Elks Lodge of Harlingen, TX. Jim and his wife of 12 years, Yolanda Alexander shared her daughter, Jacquelynn Moon and two wonderful grandchildren Marina and Joey whom Jim loved and adored. Jim's family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. Todd Shenkenberg for his unconditional care and support. And also our sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at Valley Baptist Medical Center 4th floor and Solara Hospital in Harlingen. Jim is survived by his wife, Yolanda Alexander Brydone and her daughter, Jacquelynn Moon and 2 grandchildren, Marina and Joey. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Anne Patterson, Eleanor Hagarty (Robert), Meredith Brydone; Yolanda's brothers and sisters, Mary Alexander (Dale), Gracie A. Villalobos (Robert), Joe Alexander (Rose), Robert Alexander, Mary Alice A. Leal (Ramiro) and extended family members and friends. Memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Celebration of Life service at 6:00 PM. Live streaming will be available at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers please honor Jim by donating to the American Cancer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.
