Juana V. Longoria

Juana was born on June 22, 1937, in Peregrina, Guanajuato, Mexico. Juana traveled with her family to Harlingen at a young age and remained here until her passing on Monday, July 13, 2026. She passed surrounded by her loving family. Juana will be remembered as a kind, loving, faithful, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and sister. She and her husband, Guadalupe D. Longoria, were proud business owners of a full-service gas station, Allamar Conoco, on F Street for many years, and she was his right hand in managing the finances until his passing in 1989. She continued independently with the business until she suffered a stroke in 1997, and the business closed soon after. She worked hard to regain independence even though paralysis remained, and she proved to be a strong support system for her family by assisting with transporting anyone who needed a ride until she could no longer drive. She enjoyed celebrating Mass until the very end and loved attending her prayer group meetings when possible. She loved collecting reflection poems and bible verses that delved into our emotions and life experiences, and she enjoyed doing arts and crafts in her younger years. She loved family gatherings and dinners and sharing her stories and opinions with the grandchildren. She taught us that if you fall, you get up and keep going forward. She leaves a hole in our hearts, as we were not ready for her departure. She will be missed and will live in our many positive memories of her. She is survived by her six children: Alicia Vasquez of San Antonio, Laura Castillo and her husband, Henry, of Harlingen, Martha Barron and her husband, Roberto, of Harlingen, Ruth Alaniz and her husband, Alex, of San Antonio, Leticia Rohrer and her husband, George, of Harlingen, and Gabriel Longoria of Harlingen. Also surviving her are four stepchildren and all their families, Victoria L. Adame, Rufina L. Riggs, Lupe Longoria, Jr., and Irma Flores. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren, Eric J. Vasquez and his wife, Brittany; Nicholas Vasquez and his wife, Nidia; Jackie Herrig and her husband, Daniel; Justin D. Villarreal and his wife, Daniela; Joshua N. Villarreal and his partner, Jamie; Joseph C. Villarreal; Antonio G. Molina; William T. Alaniz; Viktor G. Alaniz; Carlos Daniel De Leon; and Isabella Renee De Leon. She was also blessed with six beloved great-grandchildren: Nathaniel Vasquez, Hans Herrig, Callum Herrig, Alessio Villarreal, Giulia Villarreal, and Lilibet Mae Molina. Juana is also survived by her sisters, Maria Felix Hughes and her husband, Armando, and Maria del Refugio Yohner, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Guadalupe D. Longoria; two sisters, Maria De Los Angeles Tavares and Maria Green; one brother, Concepcion Vasquez; and one stepdaughter, Rachel Salinas. Visitation will take place on Thursday, July 16, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a rosary at 7:00 PM, at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Harlingen, Texas. The funeral will take place on Friday, July 17, 2026, departing the funeral home at 1:30 PM for a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas. The burial will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in La Feria, Texas. Pallbearers will be Justin D. Villarreal, Antonio G. Molina, Joshua N. Villarreal, Eric J. Vasquez, Nicholas Vasquez, and Carlos Daniel DeLeon. Honorary pallbearer will be Joseph C. Villarreal. The family would like to thank the entire Gentiva Hospice team for their kindness and emotional support, from the initial hospital visit to the very last nurse who prepared for her departure. The family would also like to thank our cousin Clarissa Sanchez and her family for leading us in prayer with the rosary, and to Our Lady of the Assumption parishioners for their assistance with the Mass. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas.
