Leopoldo Silguero Sr.

Leopoldo Silguero, Sr., 84, of Andover, Minnesota, entered into eternal rest on February 13, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Leopoldo was born in Ciudad Victoria, Mexico, to Inez Cerda and Petra De Leon. From an early age, he embodied the values of hard work, dedication, and devotion to family qualities that defined his life. A hardworking man throughout his life, Leopoldo found joy in the simple but meaningful things. He had a love for cars and treasured cruising with his son in his beloved 1971 Monte Carlo. He enjoyed dancing, watching his favorite television show “Cops,” spending time with his two dogs, and indulging in butter pecan ice cream. He had a special tenderness for babies and could always be found smiling in their presence. Above all, Leopoldo was a devoted father and grandfather. Each day, he looked forward to his son arriving home from work so he could light a fire outside and sit together, enjoying their conversations and his dogs. Those quiet evenings reflected the heart of who he was—a man who cherished togetherness. His grandchildren were the pride and joy of his life, and he loved them deeply. He is survived by his five children: Ovidio Cerda, Nora Silguero, David Perez, Leopoldo Silguero, Jr., and Inez Silguero. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Vanessa Cerda, Jenny Cerda, Ovidio Cerda, Jr., Ysamin Garcia, Evelynn Garcia, Andres Garcia, Gerardo Garcia, Joel Lozoya, Connie Reyes, Ruby Reyes, Elijah Reyes, Damian Silguero, Daynna Silguero, Evelyn Silguero, Dominique Silguero, Levi Ferry, “honorary” grandson Dustin Lopez, Dymond Silguero, Inez Silguero, Jr., Jesus Flores, Anthony Mendoza, Jose Flores, and Jennifer Flores. Leopoldo’s legacy continues through his many great-grandchildren: Sebastian Rivers, Persefany Rivers, Jonatan Odilon, Ricardo Fabian, Julieta Espada, Jomara Espada, Denisse Espada, Fernanda Garcia, Allison Regina Garcia, Ailyn Zoe Garcia, Ivanna Garcia, Raul Garcia, Geraldine Garcia, Genesis S. Lozoya, Laila N. Lozoya, Jorge Valero, Josie Valero, Malaki Ramos, Pauli Ramos, Nathan Reyes, Orlando Barrera, Jr., Naomi Barrera, Lilith Maldonado-Reyes, Solara Silguero, Amelia Silguero, Elaina Torres, Joshua Torres, Jr., Jesus Flores, Jr., Violet Flores, Kataleya Arlette Mendoza, and three great-great-grandchildren: Valentina Matias, Alexa Valero, and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria De Jesus “Susie” Silguero, and his two sons, Juan Jose Reyes and Martin Perez. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Mercedes, Texas. The funeral service will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026, departing the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. for a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Mercedes, with Father Rene Angel as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mercedes Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Mercedes, Texas. Pallbearers will be Levi Ferry, Damian Silguero, Elijah Reyes, Inez Silguero, Jr., Ovidio Cerda, Jr., and Josh Torres. Honorary pallbearer will be Dustin Lopez. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Mercedes, Texas. Leopoldo will be remembered for his strength, his devotion to family, and the warmth he brought to every gathering. His love lives on in the generations he leaves behind.
