Louie Torres

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louie Torres, a beloved brother, uncle, grandfather and friend, who left us too soon at the age of 60. Louie was known for his infectious laughter, warm heart, and his ability to be a steadfast listener, always ready to lend an ear or share a joke. He was born October 15, 1964, in Harlingen, Texas to Jesus Torres and Amelia Gil Torres. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Lupita Gonzalez and 3 brothers, Juan D. Torres, Joe Torres and Emilio Torres. Louie developed a passion for the open road, dedicating his life to his work as a truck driver. His journeys allowed him to meet countless people, each of whom he touched with his kindness and humor. Outside of work, Louie was an avid car enthusiast and toy collector. His collection reflected his playful spirit and love for nostalgia. He found joy in sharing his treasures with friends and family. Louie also had a deep love for music, with Pink Floyd being his all-time favorite. He found solace and inspiration in their melodies. He loved bringing people together through barbecuing and was known for his delicious fajitas. He was a passionate disc golf player and spent many weekends perfecting his throws and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow players. A true beach lover, Louie cherished his time at South Padre Island, where he found peace and happiness . Those who joined him on his trips will remember the laughter, the stories, and the unforgettable moments he created. He also had a deep passion for fishing, a pastime that brought him endless joy throughout his life. Louie could always be found with a fishing rod in hand, taking every opportunity he had to cast a line Louie leaves behind to cherish his memory, his twin sister, Luisa Torres-Bergeron and her husband Willie; 3 brothers, Jessie Torres, Felipe Torres and Albert Torres; his grandson, Trey Gomez who was very dear to his heart; his goddaughter, Alexandria Bergeron and his best friend who was like a brother to him, Joe Fuentes. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews along with a wide circle of friends who will forever treasure his memory. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2026, at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen at 3:00 PM with family receiving friends at 1:00 PM. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.
