Maria Aguilar Morales

Maria Aguilar Morales, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on June 14, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in San Pedro, Coahuila, Mexico on May 24, 1943, Maria’s life was defined by her unwavering love for her family, her community, and the values she held dear. Maria worked for over 45 years with the Food & Nutrition Services department for the Mercedes Independent School District, where she became a beloved figure known for her kindness, dedication, and hard work. Her contributions touched the lives of countless students and staff members, and she took great pride in serving others. Outside of her career, Maria found joy in daily walks. In any weather, she was always determined to get her steps in and walk her 5-mile course. She was a constant presence at local sporting events, where she and her husband, Robert Morales, could always be found cheering on their favorite Mercedes Tigers and traveling to support their grandchildren’s activities throughout the state of Texas. Maria cherished these moments with her family, as spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her immeasurable joy. Maria is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Robert Morales; her children Robert Javier (Esmeralda) Morales, Zulema (David) Garza, and Larry (Irma) Morales; her grandchildren Leonel Garza, Tatiana (Justin) Tobar, Sarah Morales, Daniel Morales, Emilio Morales, and Iliana Morales, one great-grandchild to be Amelia Tobar and her dear siblings Julia Klima, San Juanita Aguilar, Jose Aguilar, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Juanita Ramos Aguilar, daughter Blanca Morales, her brother, George Aguilar, her sister, Eusebia Saenz, and her sister Gabriella Piña. A woman of deep faith, boundless energy, and fierce love, Maria’s legacy will forever be etched in the lives of her family and community. Her kindness, sense of humor, and unshakeable dedication to her loved ones will be missed but never forgotten. Visiting hours for Maria Morales will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, from 1:00 pm until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 p.m. at the Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace in Mercedes, Texas. The Funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, departing the funeral home 12:30 pm for a 1:00 Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church in Mercedes, Texas. The burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park in Weslaco, Texas. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Mercedes, Tx.
