Maria H. Orozco

Maria H. Orozco, also known as Mary or Kika an irreplaceable, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, with her loving family by her side at the age of 75. She was born on October 27, 1947, in El Salto, Jalisco, Mexico and came to the U.S. at the age of 10. She graduated from Harlingen High School, Class of 1968. She received a certificate from TSTI as Medical Assistant. Maria was last employed by Huddleston/Fruge Vision Clinic where she gave vision therapy to children. She is proceeded in death by her mother, Carmen H. Gutierrez, a brother, Francisco H. Moreno and her grandmother, Maria Del Refugio Moreno. She is survived by her siblings, Sara (Deacon Genaro) Ibarra and Enrique Hernandez, her children Ramon (Leslie) Orozco, Ricardo Orozco, Roberto (Patty) Orozco and Patricia Orozco, her grandchildren Angelica Orozco, Jayce Orozco and Clarissa Munoz. Before having children, she loved and protected her nephews and niece, Genaro Ibarra, Francisco Ibarra, Jose Luis Ibarra +, Alfredo (Fredric) Ibarra and Sara (Topito) Ray, with all she had. Maria loved her children unconditionally and leaves so many great memories. She loved taking them to the beach and camping with the Boys and Girls Club. She enjoyed watching them surf and once they got older taking them to concerts and making food for them and their friends during Spring Break. She loved stopping at DQ as a ritual for a treat on the way home from the beach. She was the fun Mom who took her kids canal surfing and loved having their friends over. She was an active Mom in the schools and always instilled the importance of having an education in her children. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. She never missed seeing her daughter perform on the field on Friday Nights. She was their protector and their confidant. She sacrificed so much that she always put her children and family before her own health. In 2001, she lost her sight but that did not change her spirits. She loved all whom she had interactions with and always had a smile. The family would like to thank the following for all the care and love they provided for our mother. Consuelo (Chelito) Lincoln, her provider, for the 18 years she dedicated to our mother. Chelito nunca podremos recompensar el amor y amistad que le dio a nuestra madre. Mil Gracias. Harlingen EMS, VBMC ER, and VBMC Medical ICU Nurses, especially Nurse Clarissa and Nurse Marla. Visitation will be held at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen on Monday, July 31, 2023 from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM with the Holy Rosary to be prayed at 7:00. Funeral Mass will be held at Queen of Peace Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at 10:00 AM with interment to follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
