Maria Isabel Reynolds

On the wings of Angels, our mother Mrs. Mary Reynolds peacefully went to heaven on March 10, 2025 at the age of 94 years. Our “Gammy” was a beloved and devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who was cherished and loved by many. Mary grew up on a ranch in Ramirez, Texas with her parents, Pedro Flores and Isabel Morales Flores, and her brothers Noe, Adalberto and Ramiro Flores. Ranch life taught her many skills, talents, and family and Christian values which became part of the legacy she leaves us with. At the ranch she became an avid animal lover and once adopted a baby Javelina which she named Pancho. For many years they were inseparable and he was fiercely protective of her. Her spirit for life and adventure will live forever at the ranch. After proudly graduating from high school, she married the love of her life, George Reynolds, and began her life with him in Alice, Texas. In 1969 with their three much loved children, Linda, Brenda and George, Jr., they journeyed to Harlingen where they would live the rest of their lives. They built a home that was always open to family and was filled with loving memories and unconditional love. The Harlingen community will remember George and Mary as the General Managers of the Trailways Bus Station and Western Union on Commerce Street. Her customers always appreciated her gracious and caring manner and her beautiful smile. Her friends and family will always remember the wonderful Sunday meals, holiday meals, tamales, tortillas, caldo and sweet tea. Her cakes and cookies were “most requested” because they were always special. Every meal was always delicious because her food was made with immense love and because it brought her family and friends together to enjoy life’s blessings. A devout Catholic and member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mary’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. For many years she attended morning Mass daily and was often the first one to arrive at the church. She loved her church family and was involved in many church activities. George and Mary were entrusted for many years to help count the church collections and they also helped with the church festivals, the Country Store and the St. Vincent de Paul store which provided assistance to those in need. Mary was also a member of the Franciscanas group which allowed her to build lifelong friendships and a strong spiritual bond to her Lord and Savior. Serving God by helping her church gave her immense joy. We will miss being able to call our mother and ask for her prayers and blessing. We will miss the prayer cards she always gave us. But we know she is rejoicing in heaven now and she will still hear us as we call upon her motherly love. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Isabel Flores, her husband George Reynolds, Sr., and her brothers Noe Flores and Adalberto Flores. She is survived by her children Linda (Bob) Benevides, Brenda (Ron) Alvarez, and George (Thelma) Reynolds, Jr. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, Jessica (Richard) McCullough, Veronica (Phillip) Ramirez, Elisa (Charlie) Theodosis, Rikki Benevides, Robyn Benevides, Monique (Jon) Ruiz, Jordan (Eli) Esquivel, Victoria (Justin) Brazil, Linnette (Enrique, Jr.) Ledesma, Patrick Reynolds, and 17 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Her beloved brother, Ramiro (Mary Alice) Flores, also survives her as do many treasured nieces and nephews. We would like to thank family and friends for always calling on her. She always carried two telephones at home to make sure she didn’t miss any calls. Our family would also like to thank the following individuals for the utmost care and compassion and love they gave our beloved mother: Dr. Cynthia Luna-Salazar, Dr. Oscar Reynolds, Jr., Lucila Reynolds, Norma Reynolds, Maria Elena Reynolds, Eva Torres, Rebecca Berry, Carmen Garcia, Odilia Castaneda, her Franciscanas special ladies, and her favorite priest who she loved dearly, Father Ernesto Medina. The viewing will be held on Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with prayer of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Rudy Garza Funeral Chapel. The funeral will be held on Monday, March 17, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church. Entombment will follow immediately at the Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum in San Benito. Honored to serve as her Pallbearers will be George Reynolds, Jr., Patrick Reynolds, Enrique Ledesma, Jr., Jon Ruiz, John Richard Carmona, Estafan Fuentez, Connor McCullough, Phillip Ramirez, and Charlie Theodosis. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ramiro Flores, Dr. Oscar Reynolds, Jr., Ron Alvarez, Bob Benevides and Michael Flores. Our beloved mother, Mary Reynolds, was a remarkable woman who left a beautiful legacy. She lived a life people dream of. Dear Lord we thank you for her life of 94 years and we know she is rejoicing in your loving arms. Grant her eternal rest, oh Lord, and may the Perpetual Light shine upon her. May her soul, through the Mercy of God, Rest in Peace. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen.
