Maria Guadalupe "Lupe"" Torres

Maria Guadalupe “Lupe” Torres, 94, of Harlingen, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 13, 2026. Lupe was born on January 20, 1932, in Los Aldamas, Nuevo León, Mexico, to Fidencio Gonzalez and Concepcion Rodriguez Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Santos Torres; her parents; ten brothers; and seven sisters. Left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Fernando Torres of Houston, Texas; her brother, Jose Gonzalez of Sacramento, California; as well as extended family and many dear friends whose lives she touched throughout the years. Lupe was a longtime and devoted parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church, where her faith remained an important part of her life. A gifted and accomplished saleswoman, Lupe enjoyed a successful career with Home Interiors, where she was recognized as a top sales representative in the state of Texas for numerous years. She traveled throughout the Rio Grande Valley hosting Home Interiors parties and building lasting relationships with the many people she met along the way. Her outgoing personality, dedication, and strong work ethic contributed greatly to her success and allowed her to touch the lives of countless families throughout the Valley. Visitation will begin Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Rudy Garza Funeral Home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 12:00 p.m., followed by a chapel service at 1:00 p.m. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. for Mont Meta Memorial Park Cemetery, where Lupe will be laid to rest in the mausoleum. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Jaime Cavazos, Kyle Kelley, Rick Salinas, Rey Garza, Mario Gonzalez, and Javier Gonzalez. The Torres family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to Lupe’s loving caregivers, Martha Osorio, Margarita Dominguez, Rosie Salinas, and Janie Gonzalez, for the kindness, devotion, and compassionate care they provided to her. The family also extends their sincere appreciation to Gentiva Hospice and Nurse Diana Vigil for the comfort, support, and compassionate care given to Lupe and her family during her final days. Lupe will be remembered for her strong faith, her remarkable work ethic, and the love she shared with her family and those around her. Funeral services are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Harlingen.
