Olga Soto

Maria de Jesus Olga Naranjo Montoya Soto, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, in Weslaco, Texas, at the age of 93. Born on December 06, 1930, in Sejita, Texas to Jesus and Antonia Naranjo, Olga’s life was a tapestry of love, faith, and cherished memories that brought joy to everyone who knew her. Olga enjoyed being with all her children and grandchildren, going on outings and restaurants with her family, embroidering, watching cooking shows and sharing her infamous ‘dichos’ (sayings) with her children. Her most favorite one was, “Ay nos vemos, vamos a hechar pulgas en otro lugar”. Translation: Well, see you around, I’m off to leave fleas in another place. She would make us all chuckle with that one. She survived by her son Jose Ruben Soto, Sr. (Mary Ann), her daughters: Linda E. Soto, Diana E. Soto, Sara Soto Gonzalez (Federico), daughters in law: Suzanne A. Soto, Ana Luisa Soto; grandchildren Michael, Alex Ray, Joseph Ray, Jose Ruben, Jr., Joyce Renee, Benjamin, Kaleigh, Great-grandchildren Michael Alex, Johnathan and Joel; sister Sara Torres (Pablo); brother Irineo Naranjo (Janie); brother-in-law Ernesto R. Soto; sister-in-law Hortencia Guerra (Benjamin) and many nieces, nephews and relatives. Olga was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Alejandro Soto, Sr.; her sons: Alex Soto, Jr., David Eloy Soto; her daughter Maria Alicia Soto; her brothers: Pablo Naranjo, Liborio Naranjo, Aureliano Naranjo; her sisters: Isaura Caballero, Felicitas Alonzo and many passed loved ones. Olga N. Soto leaves behind a legacy of strong faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, love, joy and devotion that will be deeply missed but never forgotten. As we say, “see you later” in Christ, we hold onto the cherished memories and the profound impact she made on our lives, knowing that her love and joy will be with us always. May she rest in peace and rejoice in heaven before the King of Kings. Thank you for loving us unconditionally and with all your heart. Thank you for your example of your strong faith and love for Christ. We love you Mama Chula and you will always be a part of our hearts. Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2024, from 1:00pm to 9:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 12, 2024, with a chapel service at 10:00am and departure at 10:30am directly to Restlawn Cemetery in La Feria. All services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes, Texas.
