Oralia G. Pena

Miss Oralia G. Pena, 88 of La Feria, TX passed away at Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen, TX on Friday, October 25, 2013. Miss Pena was preceded in death by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph G. Pena, Sr., her brother Ralph G. Pena, Jr. and her sister Gloria G. Pena. Miss Pena was the owner of Realistic Beauty Salon, and later was employed with First National Bank-Harlingen. She served as a Secretary and Bookkeeper at St. Anthony's Catholic Church-Harlingen, TX for 18 years. Miss Pena was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and was instrumental in the establishment of the Santa Monica Society. For many years she tended to the elderly and the sick, serving not only her family but others as well. She is survived by her sister-in-law Geraldine T. Pena of La Feria, TX; affectionately called Auntie LaLa by her 5 nieces Maria Theresa (Fran) Kearney of Tucson, AZ, Virginia (Juan) Guerrero of Mission, TX., Estella (+Gustavo) Loya of San Antonio, TX, Geraldine (Romel) Quintanilla, Sr. of La Feria, TX and Margot (Apolonio) Zuniga of Alamo, TX; her only nephew Ralph Phillip (Dana) Pena of Harlingen, TX. She is also survived by numerous cousins, 13 great nieces and nephews and 6 great-great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held 12:00 noon - 9:00 pm Sunday, October 27, 2013 in the Rudy Garza Funeral Home Chapel of Palms in La Feria, TX with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, October 28, 2013 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria with interment to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park. Serving as pallbearers will be Romel Quintanilla, Jr., Ismael Luna, Romel Quintanilla, Sr., Juan Guerrero, Apolonio Zuniga and Ralph Phillip Pena. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregiver Nereida Vega and her son, Joelin, along with her husband, Yovanny Rivas for all of their love and dedication to our Auntie LaLa. The family would also like to give thanks to The Neighborhood Doctor and staff for their kind attention and support given to her throughout her illness. "Joey", in our Aunties eyes you are the best!
