Patricia “Pat” Diaz was called home to be with the Lord on December 28th, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, endurance, and unconditional love. She was a devoted mother, a resilient woman, and a quiet warrior whose life was marked by grace, perseverance, and unwavering faith. Pat was the second oldest of five siblings and was raised among brothers. At the young age of 20, she married Tomas A. Vasquez and began a life journey that would demand more courage than most are ever asked to give. When life took an unexpected turn and everything around her fell apart, Pat did not fall with it. She stood firm. Without relying on others for help, she did the best she could to hold her family together, carrying the full weight of motherhood on her own shoulders faithfully, fiercely, and with dignity. As a single mother, Pat did what needed to be done, even when it was difficult and often thankless. Her love was steady, her sacrifices constant, and her perseverance unmatched. She never spoke loudly of her strength, yet everyone who truly knew her felt it. A woman of deep faith, Pat trusted God through every season of her life. Her heart did not fail her, her heart endured. It endured pain, responsibility, and loss, yet remained full of compassion, love, and grace. That same enduring heart now rests in perfect peace. Pat leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: her four children, Jose Rene Vasquez (Norma), Lydia V. Quezada (Felipe Jr.), Tomas Ayala Vasquez Jr. (Angela), and Antonio Darrell Vasquez (Jennifer); her brothers and their families—Ismael Diaz (wife Janie; children Edward, Melissa, and Valerie), Joel Diaz (wife Blanca; children Christine, Lisa, Cenaida, and Laura), Antonio Diaz Jr. (children Roger, Monica, Christopher, and Michael), & youngest brother Eloy Diaz as well as her late oldest brother and sister-in-law, Francisco “Frank” Diaz and Mary Lou Diaz (children Frank Jr., Roy, and Josie); her grandchildren Javier Rene Vasquez, Evelyn Quezada, Felicia Quezada, Deda (Virginia Ann) Rohr, Ravynn Vasquez, Tomas Luis Vasquez, Zakiya Shabazz, Marcus Shabazz, Malcom Shabazz, Oliver Vasquez, and Sophia Vasquez; one great-grandchild; her beloved pet dogs, Coco and Cookie; and all those whose lives were touched by her quiet strength and unwavering love. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Antonio Diaz and Mrs. Maria Luisa Diaz and her former husband, Tomas Ayala Vasquez. Visitation will begin Wednesday, December 31, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 1, 2026 with a chapel service at 1:00 PM at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home and burial will follow to Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito. We take comfort in knowing that Pat is now reunited with loved ones who went before her and that she is whole, restored, and embraced by God’s eternal promise. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
