Rodolfo "Rudy" Cabrera

Rodolfo “Rudy” Cabrera, 69, of Harlingen, Texas died peacefully in his home on Sunday, September 8, 2024. He was born on May 16, 1955, and is the son of the late Jose and Celia Cabrera. He is preceded in death by his sister, Ester Cazares, his brother, Samuel “Sammy” Cabrera, and his sister in laws Sylvia Cabrera and Frances Cabrera. Rudy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend of many. He loved playing the guitar. He was a beloved member of his church where he participated in the choir. He enjoyed fishing with his family. He worked for many years at Mont Meta Memorial Park in San Benito and Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria as a Family Service Counselor. During his time there he helped hundreds of families make cemetery arrangements for a loved one's burial, but his real passion was in helping families prearrange their cemetery property for future use. He thought that was the best way to help families. His faith and love will be carried forth by all he touched. He is survived by his wife: Belinda Cabrera, his sons: Jeremy Cabrera and Joshua Cabrera, his daughters: Janny Cabrera, Julie Zuniga, Joann Cabrera, and Victoria Cabrera, his brothers: Joe Cabrera and Johnny Cabrera, his sisters: Minerva Perkins, Guadalupe Escobar, and Nelda Cooling as well as his 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Rudy was a very loving, dedicated, hard-working son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and a true friend to all. He is and will forever be loved and missed by all who knew him. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 12, 2024. We will depart Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Interment will then follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery.
