Rodolfo S. Monsevalles

In Loving Memory of Rodolfo (Rudy) S. Monsevalles Rodolfo (Rudy) S. Monsevalles was called home to be with Our Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Monday, June 23, 2025. Born in San Benito, Texas, he was the cherished son of Ysidro and Bernarda Monsevalles (née Sanchez). In August of 1987, Rudy married the love of his life, Rebecca. Together, they shared a beautiful life and were blessed with a daughter, Robynne. Rudy was a devoted husband and a loving father whose family meant everything to him. A man of unwavering faith, Rudy was a dedicated member of Second Presbyterian Church in Harlingen, Texas. He served faithfully as Clerk of Session, Ruling Elder, and Sunday School Teacher. His deep commitment to his church community was evident in his generous spirit and his heart for ministry, always striving to uplift and support those around him. Rudy graduated from San Benito High School before attending the Texas A&I University in Kingsville, TX. He later returned to Harlingen to serve with honor as a police officer for the Harlingen Police Department, where he worked for five years. He then transitioned into a role as Sales Manager for the Sears Corporation, where he continued to serve his community with professionalism and care. While at Sears, Rudy discovered his true calling in education. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in History with a Minor in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Brownsville, followed by a Master’s degree in Educational Administration. He went on to receive his Teaching Certification in Mathematics and began his career at Harlingen High School South, where he taught Pre-Calculus and Calculus for 27 years. As a teacher, Rudy was deeply respected for his dedication and his ability to shape and inspire the minds of his students. Beyond the classroom, Rudy was an active and beloved member of the Harlingen community. A passionate amateur radio enthusiast, he earned his Extra Class license from the National Association for Amateur Radio and served as President of the Rio Amateur Radio Club. He especially enjoyed organizing events such as Field Day and Hamfest, connecting with fellow radio operators and bringing the community together. Rudy lived his life with faith, compassion, and an open heart. He never met a stranger—whether on a park bench or a subway platform. He always made time to share a kind word or a thoughtful conversation. His genuine warmth touched everyone he met. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we take comfort in knowing that Rudy is now in the presence of his Heavenly Father. He leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and service, and he will be missed deeply by all who knew him. Rudy is survived by his beloved wife, Rebecca Monsevalles; his daughter, Robynne Monsevalles; his sister, Reyna Araiza (Abel); his brother, Rolando Monsevalles (Lupita); nephews Ricardo Cisneros (Cheryl), Rolando Cisneros (Lupe), Robert Cisneros, and Ryan Monsevalles; and grandnieces and nephews Michael, Melanie, Brandon, Kristina, Matthew, Sarah, and Joshua Cisneros. He is also survived by: sister-in-law Rosa Casas, brother-in-law Roel Martinez (Mary), and sister in-law Rachel Trenfield (Doug); Nephews and Nieces Andres, Sebastian, Lorenzo, Paul, Marcus (Emma), Samantha (Nathan), D’mitri, and Renee.
