Ruben G. Jasso

Harlingen – Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. Psalms 91: 1-2 Harlingen – Ruben G. Jasso, age 78 entered eternal rest on Friday, March 10, 2023, at his residence in La Villa, Texas. He was born in Orange Grove, Texas on April 26, 1944, to Fernando Jasso and Lucia Garcia-Jasso. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his sisters Elva G. Jasso, Marina G. Flores, Emma G. Rios, his brother Roel Jasso, his brother-in-law Gonzalo (Jr.) Rios, his in laws Carlos and Carlota Delua and his siters in laws Yolanda Rendon and Maria Gloria Saenz. Ruben is survived by his wife Diana Delua, his daughter Cherrie Michell Jasso (Robert “Bevi” Perez), his two sons Steven James (Naila) Jasso, Ruben James (Miriam) Jasso and his six precious grandchildren whom he adored, Ruben (RJ) III, Mireli Azul, Brooklyn Monroe, Steven Jacob, Camara Maze, and Lyon Robert. He is also survived by his siblings: Viola (Jimmy) Garcia, Nelda (Joe) Trevino, Noel Jasso, Eden “Jay” Jasso, his brother in laws Raymond Flores, Rey Delua, his sister-in-law Rosemary Delua and nieces and nephews. Ruben was a hard worker and a very skilled fabricator for many years. He built many buildings in his community that became businesses for many families. His humble profession is something he took great pride in. Ruben will be remembered as a humble, funny, and always happy man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, always joking, and making everyone laugh. He enjoyed spending time outdoors in his rancho on his tractors and with his livestock. If Ruben was not found with his family joking and making them laugh, you could always find him working at the rancho or catching a nap under a shady tree. Ruben was a very caring and loving man. He was always the first to arrive if someone was sick, the first to help when someone was in need, and he was one that you could always count on. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those lives he touched. Viewing will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. Chapel service will be held on Monday, March 13, 2023, at 2:00 pm. Doors open at 8:30 am on Monday morning for viewing. Viewing and chapel service will be held at Rudy Garza Funeral Home, 1702 E. Harrison Ave. Harlingen, Texas. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Steven Jasso, Ruben Jasso, Roel Jasso, Jay Jasso, Eluid Garcia, and Robert “Bevi” Perez. To all those who took the time to offer words of encouragement or messages of faith through phone calls, text messages, food, cards and other expressions of love and support, the family is eternally grateful.
