Modesto was born February 24, 1941, to Jose and Faustina Catano in Mercedes, Texas. Modesto is survived by his former wife Estela Catano; four daughters, Elda Tovar and husband Armando of Crowley, Texas, Elisa Robledo and husband Juan of River Oaks, Texas, Armandina “Dina” Colin and husband Celerino of Crowley, Texas, Alma Scherrer and husband John of Burleson, Texas; grandchildren, Felix Colin Jr, Rocky Colin, Jose Luis Colin, Faustina Catano, Juan Rodriguez Jr, Grace Rodriguez, David Gallegos, Patricia Romero and husband Mauricio, Jose Colin, Jessenia Colin, Nicolas Morales, Alexa Morales; 27 great-grandchildren; brother Gregorio (Greg) Catano; sister-n-law Janet; sister Maria Martinez; numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of children: Elma Hernandez; brothers; DeLo Nicio “Nicho” Catano, Jose Catano Jr, Jesus Catano, Reynaldo “Ray” Torres, Margarito Torres, Juaquin Garcia; sisters Esperanza Ledesma, Guadalupe Gonzales. Visitation will begin on Friday, February 18, 2022 at 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Service will be held at 6:00 pm. Funeral services will be Saturday, February 19, 2022 with a 10:00 am Chapel Service of Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace with a 10:30 a.m. departure for interment at Highland Memorial Park Cemetery at 6705 North FM 88 in Weslaco Texas. Funeral services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes Texas.
