Natividad Garza

Natividad Garza, better known to all as Naty, was born June 25, 1949 in Mercedes, Texas. She was a graduate of Mercedes High School, had a BA in English and History from Pan American University, and earned a MARE at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Garza was a teacher for 35 years which included Mercedes, Harlingen, Los Fresnos. She was a Southern Baptist Missionary for 21 years and served most of that time at Valley Baptist Academy in Harlingen, but also spent some time in Oregon, Washington, Arizona, and Mexico. Garza was a member of First Baptist Church in Harlingen. She was a missionary with the North American Mission Board for 19 years and did 3 summers in the Pacific Northwest, 1 summer in Arizona as a church planter, and 1 summer in Chihuahua with River Ministry. God has blessed her richly. He is faithful. She is preceded in death by father Jesus Garza and mother Evangeline Garza. She is survived by her siblings Rosa Aguilar, Jesus Garza, Sara Quintanilla, Natividad Rosales, Jose Garza, Celestino Garza, and various nieces and nephews. A special thanks to Ara and Norma for their love and devotion to Naty. Visitation will be held Monday, March 21, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Mercedes. A chapel service will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Mercedes with Dr. Dan R. Crawford, Senior Professor, Southwestern Baptist Seminary of Fort Worth, Texas will be officiating with burial to follow at Anaquitas Cemetery.
