Santos Fraga, Sr.

November 1, 1929 - September 26, 2020

Santos Fraga Sr., a resident of Harlingen and Brownsville, passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Regional Medical Center. Santos, Sr. was born on November 1, 1929 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. Santos became a proud United States citizen and fathered eleven children. He loved and was proud of his citizenship and instilled in his children to love and respect their country. Santos was a dedicated hard-worker and role model to his children. In addition, he valued education and encouraged his children to pursue higher education to be productive citizens in society. Santos utilized his personal mantra “Be Better Than Me” as a way to inspire and motivate his children to do their best in all aspects of life. Santos pursued welding as a profession at Texas Technical Institute at a young age and worked for many years at Marathon Letourneau at the Port of Brownsville. He traveled to India with the company as an accomplished certified welder. Santos' favorite hobby was making “barbeque pits”. Santos is survived by 9 of 11 children, 21 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Santos had a private Church Service at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. He was laid to rest at Restlawn Memorial in La Feria on October 2, 2020. Funeral Services were under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home.
