Clara Garcia Zimmerer

Clara Garcia Zimmerer, beloved wife, devoted mother, cherished sister, and loving aunt, was peacefully called home to the Lord on December 28, 2025, at the age of 91. Born in La Feria, Texas, to Isaac and Josefa Garcia, Clara lived a life rooted in deep Catholic faith, prayer, and humble service. A lifelong parishioner of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, she found strength in the sacraments and trusted fully in God’s loving providence. Clara shared a deep commitment to the Schoenstatt Movement, where she and her late husband were among the founding couples of the Schoenstatt Federation in the United States, helping to nurture faith-filled family life and devotion to the Blessed Mother. Clara was also a faithful member of the Santa Monica Society, through which she continued her service to the Church and community. Family was the heart of Clara’s life. She expressed her love through prayer, quiet sacrifice, home-cooked meals, baked goods, and joyful moments of dancing that reflected her warmth and grace. She was preceded in death by her parents, Isaac and Josefa Garcia; her husband, Leonard Zimmerer; her son, Leonard Joseph Zimmerer; her brother, Reynaldo Garcia; and her sisters, Paula Martinez, Margarita Villalon, and Oralia Eusebio. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Catherine Zimmerer-Lewallen (Ted); her sister, Manuela Vela (Eutiquio); and many beloved family members. Clara will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. With faith in Christ’s Resurrection, her family entrusts her soul to God’s mercy, confident that she now rests in His eternal peace. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Rudy Garza Palms Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas. Visitation will resume from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria, Texas, and the recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. The funeral will take place on Saturday, January 3, 2026, with visitation beginning at 9:00 am at the Rudy Garza Palms Funeral Home in La Feria. The funeral will depart the funeral home at 12:15 pm for a 1:00 pm Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa Catholic Church in San Benito, with Father Joe Villalon as celebrant. Committal services will then follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas. Pallbearers will be Isaac Vela, Ryan Vela, Eutiquio Vela IV (Tiki), Tom Navarro, Tommy Navarro, and Roman Guevarra. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Palms Funeral Home in La Feria, Texas.
