Estela G. Garza

Our Beloved Mother, Estela Garza, 79, of Harlingen, Texas passed away on October 2, 2024, surrounded by us, her daughters, our dad and family. She was born on December 29, 1944 to Jesus and Maximina Garcia in Reynosa, Mexico, where she grew up on a ranch along the state lines of Tamaulipas and Nuevo Leon. She married our dad in 1977 and they moved to Harlingen in 1978, where they raised the three of us, her daughters - Erica, Jessica and Brenda. Our Mom, Estela, was a loving, kind, and caring Mother, Wife, Sister, Sister-in-Law, Mother-in-Law, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Aunt, Great Aunt, Cousin and Friend to the many lives she was a part of and touched. While she left us all too soon, we know she has made it to the pearly gates of Heaven, where she has been met with open arms from our grandparents, her brother and sister, in-laws, nephews, nieces and many loved ones who have gone before her. Heaven has truly gained a beautiful and loving Angel. Always beautiful, our Mom, Estela, thoughtfully planned her attire for each and every occasion, especially parties, which she always looked forward to. She sewed, she cooked, she crafted, she worked, and she kept a lovely and clean home, but the best version of Her, was her role as Mom. She taught us to love, to be strong, to work hard…she was our EVERYTHING and was and will continue to be our role model. She poured her heart and talents into the smallest of details for special events and occasions and was an amazing cook, preparing delicious meals and baking delightful treats for us and our dad, for her grandchildren, and for all who came to visit her. She leaves behind so many beautiful memories and a beautiful smile captured in memory after memory to cherish. She loved to laugh and had a strong love of family. While we are in a state of deep sadness and are hurting from our beloved Mother’s departure from this earth, we are consoled in knowing that she is no longer suffering and is looking down up on us alongside her beautiful family from Heaven. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 46 years, Miguel Garza: her daughters, Erica Garza, Jessica (Orlando) Hinojosa, and Brenda (Alonzo) Calvillo: her grandchildren, Aaron Alanis, Fatima Alanis, Angela Rodriguez, Amber Hinojosa, Jared Hinjosa, Araceli Hinojosa, Lorenzo Calvillo, Alisha Calvillo, and Aliviah Calvillo; great grandchildren, Miranda Alanis and Adyson Johnson; her brothers, Rogelio (Iginia “Nena”) Garcia, Eliazar (Juanita) Garcia, Jesus (Yolanda) Garcia, her sister Maria de Refugio “Cuca” Flores, her sister-in-law Hilda Leal and many, many nieces and nephews. Estela is preceded in death by her parents, Maximina G. Leal and Jesus Garcia, brother, Ricardo Leal, sister, Hortencia (Manuel) Solis. Visitation will begin Monday, October 7, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM and a rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 8, 2024 with visitation from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and departure at 12:30 PM for a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Mont Meta Cemetery in San Benito. Honored to serve as pallbearers include Alonzo Calvillo, Orlando Hinojosa, Jared Hinojosa, Aaron Alanis, Jesse Garcia, Rick Leal and Pepe Solis. Honorary Pallbearer is Lorenzo Calvillo. Nuestra querida Madre, Estela Garza, falleció el dia 2 de Octubre de 2024, a los 79 años de edad en Harlingen, Texas rodeada de nosotras, sus hijas, nuestro padre y familiares. Nació el 29 de Diciembre de 1944 en Reynosa, Tamulipas, donde creció en un rancho a lo largo de los límites estatales de Tamaulipas y Nuevo León. Se casó con nuestro padre en 1977 y se movieron a Harlingen, TX en 1978, donde nos criaron a las tres hijas: Erica, Jessica y Brenda. Nuestra mamá, Estela, fue una madre, esposa, hermana, cuñada, suegra, abuela, bisabuela, tía, tía abuela, prima y amiga amorosa, amable y cariñosa de las muchas vidas de las que formó parte y tocó. Si bien nos dejó a todos demasiado pronto, sabemos que ha llegado a las puertas perladas del Cielo, donde ha sido recibida con los brazos abiertos por nuestros abuelos, su hermano y hermana, suegros, sobrinos, sobrinas y muchos seres queridos que la han precedido. El Cielo verdaderamente ha ganado un Ángel hermoso y amoroso. Siempre hermosa, nuestra mamá, Estela, planeó cuidadosamente su atuendo para todas y cada una de las ocasiones, especialmente las fiestas, que siempre esperaba con ansias. Cosía, cocinaba, elaboraba trabajos manuales, trabajaba y mantenía un hogar encantador y limpio, pero la mejor versión de ella era su papel de Mamá. Nos enseñó a amar, a ser fuertes, a trabajar duro... ella era nuestro TODO y fue y seguirá siendo nuestro modelo a seguir. Virtió su corazón y talento a los detalles más pequeños para eventos y ocasiones especiales y fue una cocinera increíble, preparando comidas deliciosas y horneando deliciosas golosinas para nosotros y nuestro papá, para sus nietos y para todos los que venian a visitarla. Deja atrás tantos hermosos recuerdos y una hermosa sonrisa capturada en un recuerdo tras otro para atesorar. Le encantaba reír y tenía un gran amor por la familia. Mientras estamos en un estado de profunda tristeza y estamos sufriendo por la partida de nuestra amada Madre de esta tierra, nos consuela saber que ella ya no está sufriendo y nos está mirando desde arriba junto a su hermosa familia en el Cielo. Dejandonos apreciar su hermosa memoria su esposo despues de 46 años casados, Miguel Garza; sus hijas, Erica Garza, Jessica (Orlando) Hinojosa, Brenda (Alonzo) Calvillo; sus nietos, Aaron Alanis, Fátima Alanis, Ángela Rodríguez, Amber Hinojosa, Jared Hinjosa, Araceli Hinojosa, Lorenzo Calvillo, Alisha, Calvillo, Aliviah Calvillo; bisnietos, Miranda Alanis, Adyson Johnson; sus hermanos, Rogelio (Iginia "Nena") García, Eliazar (Juanita) García, Jesús (Yolanda) García, su hermana María de Refugio "Cuca" Flores, su cuñada Hilda Leal y muchas sobrinas y sobrinos. A Estela le preceden en la muerte sus padres, Maximina G. Leal y Jesús García, su hermano, Ricardo Leal, su hermana, Hortencia (Manuel) Solís.
