Francisca Gomez

Francisca Solis Gomez, age 88, was called to be with our Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2025 in her home in Mercedes, TX surrounded by loved ones. She was born in Weslaco, TX on March 9, 1937, and lived most of her life in Mercedes, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents Benita and Felix Solis, her husband, Miguel Gomez Jr, her son, Miguel A. Gomez, her sister Magdalena Solis, and brother Felix Solis Jr. She is survived by her siblings: Carmen Garcia, Pedro Solis, Alicia De La Cerda, Aracelia Martinez, Rosa Flores, and Diana Villarreal, her children: Alma (Tony) Zepeda, Carlos (Abigail) Gomez, David Gomez, and Yolanda Gomez and 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Over the years, Francisca assisted her husband with his business while raising her 5 children and later helped raise 2 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was an active member of Our Lady of Mercy Church for over 60 years. Her education was enriched by her love of reading, and she was always found to have a book nearby. She loved spending time in her yard gardening, listening to country music and watching Western movies. Francisca will be remembered for the love and compassion she showed family and friends, and their lives will always be touched by her presence. The family would also like to express gratitude to Dr. Ghaddar and the staff at Texas Oncology for the care they showed her over the past several years. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 19, 2025, we will depart Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace at 9:30a.m. for a 10 a.m. mass at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mercedes Restlawn Memorial Cemetery in Mercedes, Texas. Funeral Services are under the direction and care of Rudy Garza Funeral Home of Mercedes, Texas.
