Juan Manuel Buenrostro

Juan Manuel Buenrostro, 57, passed away on Monday, April 22nd at Knapp Medical Center. Juan grew up in Mercedes where he graduated from Mercedes high school in 1986. He worked for Texas A&M in association with the RGV Sugar Mill and with South Texas Pumps as their service manager for several years. Juan served with the Mercedes Army National Guard for many years and served our country proudly during Desert Storm. He was a Volunteer firefighter for the city of Mercedes for many years. Juan enjoyed watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys as he considered himself their #1 fan, always cheering his team on as he bbq’d for his friends and family. Juan was extremely proud of all of his children’s accomplishments, from their careers in health care and continued education and gleamed with pride watching his son AJ prowess as an MMA fighter. He was always proud of his nephews and nieces accomplishments and of his nephews playing football for the Mighty Mercedes Tigers. Juan is preceded in death by his mother, Anita Buenrostro Garcia, maternal grandparents, Domingo and Cristina Buenrostro, his sister, Dominga Garcia Leyva and brother, Alex Garcia. Left to cherish his memory are his four children: Juan Manuel Buenrostro Jr. (JR), Adolfo Jose Buenrostro (AJ), Catalina Christina Buenrostro, (Rene Presas), Madison Nicole Buenrostro, his beloved granddaughter Melody Grace Presas and his former wife and mother to his children Yvonne Garza Buenrostro. He is also survived by His sisters and brothers: Juan Garcia (Manuela Anciso) (Michigan) Paula Garcia, Lorenzo Garcia, Guadalupe (Rodolfo Perez), Maria Mercedes Garcia Hernandez, Martin Garcia, (California) Ernestina (Jesse Salinas), Gabriela (Albert Martinez), Cristobal Garcia, (California)Tim Buenrostro (Gloria Garza) and Juan Buenrostro (Nereyda). His son/nephew, Ernie Garcia; uncles, Vito Buenrostro and Daniel Barrientes; and many nephews, nieces, cousins and several relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor at his home at 232 N Missouri Street Mercedes, Texas on Sunday at 4 pm. Memorial services will be held at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetary on Monday at 2 pm. Honor Guard services to be provided by the American Legion.
