Julia G. Dudley

Julia G. Dudley, 98, entered into eternal rest surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 19, 1927, in La Feria. Julia was a woman of deep faith and a devoted member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for most of her life. She dedicated 42 years of service as a bilingual teacher’s aide with the La Feria Independent School District. Even after her retirement, her passion for education continued as she served as a substitute teacher until the age of 86. Julia touched countless lives through her dedication and kindness, earning the love and respect of her students and colleagues alike. She found great joy in baking, cooking, and making preserves. Julia loved to travel with her family, visiting places such as Missouri and, in her earlier years, taking memorable trips to Mexico with friends. Known as the life of the party, she enjoyed music, dancing, shopping, garage sales, and family gatherings. Julia took pride in caring for others, always making sure everyone around her was well-fed and happy. She truly embraced life and made the most of every moment. Above all, Julia cherished her family. She was the heart of her home and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her two daughters, Cynthia Cobarrubias (Joe) of La Feria and Jeannie Dudley of La Feria; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Anguiano (Santiago Jim) of Corpus Christi, Daniel Cobarrubias (Minnie) of San Benito, and David Cobarrubias (Crystal) of Los Fresnos. She is also survived by her four step-grandchildren, Pattsy Hernandez and Robbie Zapata (Isaac Mireles); six great-grandchildren, Miguel Cobarrubias, Daniella Cobarrubias, Julia Anguiano, Olivia Anguiano, Avery Cobarrubias, and Colt Cobarrubias; and step-great-grandchildren, Armando San Miguel, Zachary Herrera, Zoey Lukens, and Zaylee Mireles. Also surviving Julia are her brother, Leo Gonzalez of La Feria, and her daughter-in-law, Olga Dudley. She was preceded in death by her husband, George “Bill” W. Dudley, and her son, George Edward “Eddie” Dudley. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Rudy Garza Chapel of Peace, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, departing the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Daniel Cobarrubias, David Cobarrubias, Miguel Cobarrubias, Victor Gomez, Oscar Gomez, and Robin Bergman. Honorary pallbearer will be Colt Cobarrubias. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home.
