Maria Del Consuelo Maya Villegas, 59, of Harlingen, Texas, entered into eternal rest on July 11, 2026. She was born on February 12, 1967, in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico, to Luciano Maya Ramirez and Maria del Jesus Villegas Rubio. Maria was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her cherished son, Javier Marchand Maya. A woman of unwavering faith, Maria lived her life with a servant’s heart and an open door. She was known for her words of encouragement, her wise advice, and her willingness to help anyone in need. Whether someone needed a warm meal, a glass of water, or simply a safe place to stay, Maria welcomed them with kindness, generosity, and compassion. Her love for others was a true reflection of the faith she carried in her heart. Maria found her greatest joy in her family. She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and loving great-grandmother whose life revolved around those she loved. She also had a passion for cooking and was formerly the owner of The City Shop Cafe in Harlingen, where she shared her culinary talents with the community. Her signature dish was her famous homemade mole, a recipe that family and friends eagerly anticipated at every gathering. Paired with her fresh, handmade flour tortillas, it became a meal that brought everyone together around her table. She was also known for making the most delicious caldo de pollo, prepared with chickens she lovingly raised on her farm. Through every meal she prepared, Maria expressed her love, generosity, and the joy she found in caring for those around her. She leaves behind to cherish her beautiful memory her daughters, Ana Cecilia Marchand Maya and Grecia de Jesus Marchand Maya; her son, Oscar Abel Maya Villegas; her cherished grandchildren, Andres Meza, Eduardo Meza, Bryana Breeze Cruz, Alia Melissa Cruz, Carlos Javier Marchand, Juan Carlos Marchand, Julian Salvador Camacho Marchand, Juliana Esmeralda Camacho Marchand, and Julio Habrhan Camacho Marchand; her beloved great-grandchildren, Zamira Garcia, Easi Ponce, Ximena Yamileth Meza, and Leon Meza; as well as numerous brothers, sisters, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure the love, guidance, and kindness she shared throughout her life. Visitation will be held at the Rudy Garza Funeral Home on Wednesday from 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Holy Rosary led by her beloved daughter, Ana, at 7:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, departing Rudy Garza Funeral Home at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Ashland Memorial Park Cemetery. Though her presence will be deeply missed, Maria’s legacy of faith, generosity, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
