Robert R. Martinez

It is with deep sorrow and profound love as we announce the passing of Robert R. Martinez, who peacefully passed away on May 6, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on April 26, 1945, Robert grew up and lived his life in La Feria, Texas. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy and honorably served our Country during the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his loving parents, Desiderio and Consuelo Martinez; his siblings MaryAnn Martinez Muñoz, Juan R. Martinez, and Homero Martinez; Nephew, Rolando Martinez Jr.; Niece, Bonnie Martinez; and his great-granddaughter, Allison Renee Rodriguez. Robert is survived by his devoted wife, Olga Martinez, and his beloved children: Annisa Marie Martinez, Amy Renee Martinez, Aneka Lynn Martinez, Anjanette Consuelo Martinez, Desiderio (Veronica) Martinez, and Roverto (Gabriela) Martinez Jr. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Edgar Perez, Neidy Anabel Perez-Gamez, and Sergio Perez, who he cared for deeply. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister Consuelo (Luis) Huerta, brothers Desiderio (Lupita) Martinez and Rolando (Ada) Martinez, as well as his cherished extended family of grandchildren: Cassandra Lynn Martinez, Aaliyah A. Garza, Celica Renee Gonzalez, Abigail Ramos, Charisma Leana Rodriguez, Aysiah D. Garza, Roberto Villagomez Jr., Vanessa Rae Gonzalez, Ashlyn N. Garza, Illiana Martinez, Arissa Jo Chapa, Roberto Martinez III, and Addison Elle Hernandez. He will also be lovingly remembered by his step-grandchildren Clarissa and Fabian Melendez. Roberts legacy will continue through his great-grandchildren: Vivian Martinez, Roy Rogelio Martinez III, Liam Ray Martinez, Alina Amily Rodriguez, and Everly Rose Villagomez. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who held him in high regard with so much love. Robert was a man of strong character who was tough on the outside, yet incredibly kind and tender-hearted. His love, wisdom, humor, and understanding of life has left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether offering heartfelt advice, a helping hand, or simply sharing a joke to brighten your day, he was always someone you could depend on. Robert, a God fearing man, was a parishioner of St. Frances Xavier Church in La Feria. Robert lived in faith through his insightful readings of scripture and shared his dedication of faith with everyone. Robert would never claim living in perfection, but always strived to do right by others with his humble heart. He will always be remembered for his unwavering love, his caring spirit, and his deep sense of responsibility to his family and community. A heartfelt thank you goes to his brother, Rolando Martinez, and his daughter, Aneka Lynn Martinez, for their selfless devotion and care as his primary caregivers in the years leading up to his passing. Their compassion, strength, and love brought great comfort and dignity to Robert’s final chapter. Their selflessness and dedication will never be forgotten. Visitation will begin Sunday, May 11, 2024 at the Rudy Garza Palms Chapel in La Feria from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and a rosary will commence at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 12, 2025 with the funeral procession departing the Rudy Garza Palms Chapel at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Service at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in La Feria. Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery with military honors under the auspices of the American Legion Post #205 Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Roy Rogelio Martinez, Jr., Andres Rodriguez, Hunter Asbury, Lee Roy Martinez, Michael Perez, Roberto Martinez III. Honorary pallbearers are, Robert Munoz, Jr., Roy Rogelio Martinez III and Liam Ray Martinez. Though he has left this world, Robert’s spirit, strength, and warmth of all his love will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
