Cecilia Longoria Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cecilia Longoria entered into eternal rest at the age of 102 years on January 23, 2022, at Senior Care of Edinburg (Abri). She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to be in her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Longoria, Jr., her daughter, Elizabeth L. Soto, her granddaughter, Patricia Goedrich, her parents, Lorenzo and Severa de Hoyos, her sisters, Camila Gonzalez, Asuncion Reyna, Jesusita Fernandez and her brothers Lorenzo, Jacinto, Alberto, Juan and Nicolas de Hoyos. She was the youngest of nine children. She was born on Nov. 21, 1919 in Victoria, TX. On June 6, 1947, she married the love of her life, Manuel. They lived in Harlingen for 65 years until they moved to Edinburg to be near their daughter, Aurora. They both entered the nursing home in Dec. 2017 and stayed until passing. They were so loved and cared for by all the staff. She is survived by her daughter, Aurora and husband Pete Vela, Cecilia and her husband Joe Lopez, and her son Juan Manuel Longoria and his wife, Maria. Also left to cherish her memories are her 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was known to them as "Mamo". She was a "social butterfly" always talking and joking with people she knew and met. Viewing will be Thursday, January 27 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen with a rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Friday, January 28 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Park in La Feria, Texas. Pallbearers are grandsons Rick Soto, Joey Lopez, Mark Vela, Ruy Soto and great grandsons Christopher Soto and James Seay, Jr. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Senior Care (Abri) and Allstate Hospice for the love and comfort care that she received from them. Funeral is under the care and direction of Rudy Garza Funeral Home in Harlingen, Texas.
